Maybe It's Not Love, It's Validationpsychology 2026. 6. 1. 23:22

People Are Often More Attracted to Those They Want Approval From
Human emotions are strange.
Sometimes,
there are people who genuinely like us,
yet we feel little attraction toward them.
Meanwhile,
the person who gives us mixed signals,
who seems interested one day and distant the next,
often captures our attention the most.
Why?
Because it may not be love at all.
Sometimes,
we don't actually want the person.
We want their approval.
When someone we admire chooses us,
it feels like proof of our worth.
That's why people often confuse
the desire for validation
with the desire for love.
This becomes even stronger
when our self-esteem feels fragile.
Their attention begins to control our emotions.
A text message makes us happy.
A delayed reply makes us anxious.
A smile brightens our day.
A cold attitude ruins it.
Without realizing it,
we hand over control of our emotions
to another person.
But healthy love works differently.
A good relationship is not there
to prove your value.
It is two people,
already worthy on their own,
making each other's lives better.
Love is not an exam.
Your worth does not depend
on being chosen by someone else.
So when you find yourself deeply attracted to someone,
ask yourself one important question:
"Do I truly love this person?"
Or...
"Do I simply want their approval?"
More relationships than we realize
begin with the desire for validation,
not love.
And once you understand that difference,
you start seeing people differently.
Love is not about being validated.
It's about being accepted for who you truly are.
